20 degrees hotter ! Why effective roof space ventilation is so important for your health, home and your pocket.
Benefit with a cooler home in Summer, and a warmer home in Winter, by simply installing in your roof a number of pairs of either these new unobtrusive 'hollow tiles' or 'integrated units' for corrugated metal roofs, which create continuous gentle convection currents to silently ventilate your roof space ! They will reduce your need to cool or heat your home, giving you FREE big reductions your expensive electricity and gas bills, as well as giving you a drier and healthier roof space, thus minimising unhealthy fungi growing and minimising damaging condensation forming especially in Winter, which can also invisibly be rotting your structural roofing timbers.
Have you climbed into a roof space? In summer it is like a sauna, and in winter it is like a butcher's cool-room. The reasons for this are that the roof space is like a container with a lid firmly on top, the sarking above on the underside of the roof, and below there can be ceiling insulation installed thus the air is trapped with virtually no air movement, even more severely in homes with continuous sheeting metal Colorbond roofs. The thin sarking sheet, with its reflective surface on the underside, is installed to try to minimise the outside temperature entering, not as is often misunderstood sheeting to prevent moisture from broken tiles or wind driven rain entering your roof space. So the sarking, like when you use aluminium foil to keep food warm, virtually stops the heat or cool escaping through gaps in your external roof, and the invisibly severe consequences of this trapped air is now elaborated.
In summer this trapped air gets hotter and hotter becoming a 'sauna'. During the recent Federal Government's home insulation program, we were being contacted by very concerned builder urgently seeking a solution to the roof space's temperature increasing by 20 degrees, after the ceiling insulation was installed ! This fact was confirmed to us by an architect in one of the NSW government property departments. Also imagine how much additional running costs you must be paying in summer, to have your ducted home air conditioning system operating in an oven !
In winter, the cool-room effect means both a colder home, which will require more heating and damaging condensation forming creating mould, fungi and rotting roof timbers.
"Six months, later the house's walls and ceilings were sprouting fungus. When the roof manhole was opened, water gushed out like a waterfall. The new insulation was sodden, rendered useless by the installer's failure to ventilate the roof (space). The air is still toxic, there's black mottle specks all over the white plasterboard and a green tinge to the floorboards. The architect and lawyer who was called as an expert witness said the house was the worst example of condensation damage he had seen."

The need for and significant benefits of effective roof space ventilation are well documented in building research. This old and not widely known set of problems was even identified back in the 1890's by the famous Sydney architect William Kemp, who amongst other well known buildings designed the Sydney Technical College in Ultimo, and incorporated roof space ventilation systems in all his buildings.
Our range of these new roof space ventilation products, which were developed in Australia. By their simplicity of design, versatility and effectiveness, they represent a major breakthrough solution also due to the fact that they have no moving parts to fail, or to generate disturbing noise when needing to sleep at night and they are virtually invisible when installed. Additionally, they are easily fitted by roofers when they installing a new roof, or for exiting roofs they are easy to fit from the outside by a professional handyman or roofer. Every home and household in Australia would benefit from so many points of view by having them silently ventilating their roof space, day and night.
By ventilating your roof space, you can reduce your cooling and heating bills by up to 20%.
An unventilated roof space in summer means you are paying electricity costs to cool your home, while allowing your closed up 'oven' roof space to get hotter and hotter. If you have a ducted air conditioning system in your roof space, the indoor unit and the ducting branching to each room is operating in an 'oven like environment' and your running costs will be significantly higher.
An unventilated roof space in winter means you're allowing your closed up 'cool-room' roof space to get colder and colder. With this massive 'iceblock' on top of your home, your home will be significantly colder requiring more heating.
With electricity and gas costs skyrocketing around 25 % in the past two years, with increased charges to continue and soon a 'Carbon Emission Tax' likely to be introduced shortly, the situation is going to become dramatically worse. Now is the time to do something to reduce your energy bills.
With no moving parts, these products are silent and maintenance free, where as other forms of protruding roof space ventilation are noisy and their bearings will require service or replacement with time, especially those cheap rotating versions made in China. In a Canberra, a household saved 20% on their electricity bill in one year, by simply installing 4 pairs. The payback period was a mere 2 years. Find out more, read testimonials from some ecstatic customers.
These boutique products are not mass produced, but rather carefully manufactured here in Australia from quality Australian Bluescope Zincalume using laser cutting, and not with low quality materials nor low quality manufacturing methods offshore.
Ventilate your roof space by simply inserting these NEW waterproof hollow 'ventilation' products into your existing or new roof.
Our unique NEW roof space ventilation solution is available in two versions, one for metal sheeted roofs and the other for tiles roofs:
FOR COLORBOND / CORRUGATED ROOFS: A specifically designed hollow unit, whose side shoulders sit perfectly over two corrugated shoulders in a corrugated profile metal roof, which the lower apron is laser cut to sit onto the corrugated profile and the upper section slips straight under the metal ridge capping. When installed these compact and slim units are barely visible. This is a cool and effective solution for an otherwise 'hot tin roof'.
Be sure to specify Corrugated Colorbond roof for your project, as there is only one model, and it is only compatible with the corrugated roofing profile. This roof space ventilation Unit is not compatible with other metal sheeting profiles.
Simply install in pairs on either side of the ridge cap sheeting, which will enable your roof space to start silently ventilating. To work out how many pairs you may require, the first pair should be 1.5m from one end and then additional pairs approximately 4.5m apart, with the final pair again 1.5m from the end. This enables nature to take over and a gentle convection air current to commence to achieve the desired on-going roof space ventilation. We also have a solution for skillion roofs, using Intermediate Flashing, which we can supply.
When the hollow units are installed, they are carefully inserted though the sarking to become effective 'straws' thus facilitating air movement enabling the roof space breath and equalise temperature inside with the outside.
As you are installing these hollow ventilation units high up under the ridge cap and on top of the corrugated roof, they are virtually invisible, there is no potential water entry problem, there is no future maintenance required, they are silent and they are working even when there is no breeze such on a very hot still summer day. On the other hand, a 'whirly bird' type product is visually obvious and ugly, requires flashing which introduces the risk of water entry problems, requires maintenance to their bearings, when rotating they make noticeable noise especially at night when you are needing to sleep and they do not work when there is no breeze, at the very times when you need them most.
Either hand or spray paint to blend in with the colour of your roof, or we can have them powder coated to current and past standard Colorbond colours. If you have an existing Colorbond roof, remember the original colour may have faded. This highly effective product is ideal to be installed in new homes, existing homes, sheds, garages or when building an extension to your home.
FOR TILED ROOFS: Hollow tiles are available in models for both Concrete and Terracotta tiled roofs. Simply replace approximately 6-10 solid tiles with these hollow ventilation tiles which will enable your roof space to start silently ventilating. To work out how many pairs you may require, the first pair should be 1.5m from one end and then additional pairs approximately 4.5m apart, with the final pair again 1.5m from the end.
For each pair, the upper one is ideally located on either the Western or Northern side of the roof to allow the trapped air to escape, about 3 rows down from the ridge capping, and the lower one on the either the Southern or Eastern side of the roof about 3 rows up from the gutter. They can also be installed in skillion roofs. This enables a gentle convection current to take place to move the air and achieve on-going ventilation. When the hollow tiles are installed, they are carefully inserted though the sarking to become effective 'straws' thus facilitating air movement enabling the roof space to breath and equalise temperature inside with the outside.
As you are substituting solid tiles for hollow tiles, they are invisible, there is no potential water entry problem, there is no future maintenance need, they are silent and working even when there is no breeze such as on a very hot still summers day, unlike 'whirly bird' type products are visually obvious and ugly, require flashing which introduces the risk of water entry problems, require maintenance to their bearings, make a noticeable noise especially at night when you are needing to sleep and they do not work if there is no breeze, at the very times when you need them most.
Either hand or spray paint to blend in with the colour of your roof, or we can have them powder coated when you choose a colour from our extensive range. (Click to here See the Tile Compatibility Table)

Corrugated Roof Space Ventilation Units
To enjoy a cooler home in Summer and to have a warmer home in Winter for ZERO running costs, install this effective product in your existing or new home or when building an extension ! You will achieve a big saving with dramatically rising electricity and gas costs.
This brilliant new roof ventilation product has been specially designed to be installed as an integral part of a metal sheeting roof with a 'corrugated profile'. This innovative product is the latest, best and virtually inconspicuous roof space ventilation solution for corrugated Colorbond clad roofs. {vmproduct:sku=V003}
When this product is installed in sufficient pairs, your home will be significantly cooler in Summer and warmer in Winter, minimising your need to cool or heat your home, thus substantially saving you money. With the costs of electricity and gas skyrocketing, now you can so something to save your pocket and budget.
Think of a pot in which you are steaming vegetables. To keep more steam in, you create a small opening with the lid. To allow more steam to escape, you allow a larger opening of the lid. So when deciding how many pairs to install, remember the venting of your roof space will be more effective by installing more pairs rather than less.
A good rule of thumb is to install one pair 1.5 metres from the end of the ridge line for each section of roof, and subsequent pairs evenly spaced approximately 4.5 metres apart, with the final pair approximately 1.5 metres from the other end. The average home may require between 2 and 4 pairs of these roof space ventilation units. On skillion roofs, they can also be installed in pairs one below the top one using our special 'intermediate flashing' piece to ensure the waterproof integrity of the roof is maintained.
These special hollow Zincalume 'ventilation' roof units are specially designed for corrugated or Colorbond roofs, so when they are installed under the ridge cap they fit snugly on the roof in an integrated fashion and are hardly noticeable. They need to be installed in pairs straddling each side of the ridge capping. In this way hot air escapes from one, while cooler air is drawn in through the other creating an effective and natural convection current.
So even on the very hot summer days when there is no breeze, using these products and nature, your hidden roof space is silently, effectively and healthily self ventilating which otherwise can contribute to Sick Building Syndrome and condensation forming and fungi growing in winter. They are ideal to be retro fitted in existing homes, garages, sheds or buildings, as well as installed when building a new home, shed, extension or building. This unique and invisible product, designed and made in Australia, is easily installed from the outside.
Optional Kitchen and Bathroom Venting Out application. In addition to the important function of roof space ventilation, by installing dedicated ventilation Units with either a 'single' or 'double' Adaptor you can connect the 50mm diameter flexible ducting from kitchen or bathroom ventilation systems, to duct this unwanted air directly to the outside.
Optional Bush Fire Area Compliance Mesh. By having the optional 'stainless steel mesh' fitted, these compact roof space ventilation units, or when used as kitchen or bathroom 'venting out' units, comply with Bush Fire Area building requirements.
Powder Coating Option. They are manufactured and supplied in Zincalume. Alternatively you can also instruct us to have your units factory powder coated to a colour which closely matches the standard Colorbond colour range. We supply Australia wide and internationally, with or without powder coating.
The old fashioned alternative of an ugly, sticking up on your roof and potentially noisy rotating ventilator (a nuisance when trying to sleep at night), which by its very design requires a breeze to operate, does not work when there is no breeze such as on still hot days ! With our innovative and virtually invisible hollow ventilation roof units, they are silently working away when there is no breeze, however when a breeze is present, the air movement in the roof space increases as the Venturi Principle draws even more air in and out.
With our unique integrated Roof Ventilation Unit, there are no noisy moving parts, no future maintenance needs and no unsightly protruding object sticking out of your roof. Just a healthier home where you will also be enjoying year round lower running costs to cool or heat your home. There are three versions for concrete and terracotta tiled roofs.
Architects and Building Designers, specify these aesthetically and highly functional superior integrated Ventilation Units. Remember if you like and want this amazing product, with its two important applications and benefits, specify a 'corrrugated' roof, as it is only compatible with a corrugated profile.

Concrete + Terracotta Roof Ventilation Tiles
When this highly effective product is installed in sufficient pairs, it will significantly make your home cooler in Summer and warmer in Winter, thus minimising your need to cool or heat your home, therefore substantially saving you money. With the costs of electricity and gas sky-rocketing, now you can have something you can do to save your pocket and reduce expense in running your home. This product, which when installed cannot be seen, has no moving parts, makes no noise and has ZERO running costs !
This innovative new product is a completely inconspicuous roof space ventilation solution for tiled roofs. The concept is so simple and effective, a number of pairs of these hollow Zincalume 'breathing' roof tiles, are installed on your roof replacing a solid clay or cement tile, thus enabling your important roof space to effectively ventilate and with no noisy moving parts or no future maintenance needs.
Installed in pairs, one 'hollow' roof tile is positioned high, ideally on the North side of the roof just a few rows below the ridge cap, and the pair's 'partner' is on the other side of the roof in a low position just a few rows above the gutter to allow cooler air to be drawn in. Ideal for re-roofing, extension, existing or new homes, pairs should be installed approximately 4.5m apart. For skillion roofs, simply install as pairs with one hollow tile high, and its 'partner' close to the gutter just below.
As the hot air rises and is able to escape through these 'upper' hollow 'ventilation' roof tiles, cool air enters through the 'lower' hollow ventilation' roof tiles, an effective convection current is created. So even on the very hot summer days when there is no breeze, using these products and nature, your hidden roof space is silently, effectively self ventilating which otherwise can contribute to Sick Building Syndrome, condensation forming and fungi growing in winter. We supply these breathing tiles Australia wide and internationally, with or without powder coating.
The old fashioned alternative of an ugly, sticking out of the roof and potentially noisy rotating ventilator (a nuisance when trying to sleep at night), which by its very design requires a breeze to operate, does not work when there is no breeze! With our innovative and invisible hollow ventilation roof tiles, when there is a breeze, the air movement increases as the Venturi Principle draws even more air in and out.
One of the secrets of this product for concrete tiled roofs, is that one size fits all. The overall shape and configuration of the hollow tile is the same as the vast majority of past and present concrete tiles manufactured. So no matter how long ago your existing roof tile was manufactured, there is an excellent chance that this universal tile ventilator will fit and easy to install. When you replace an existing tile to introduce efficient roof space ventilation, you remove your existing 'good' tile which can be used to replace cracked or broken tiles.
The same applies with terracotta. There are in fact two models, a 'small' and 'large' size, so again for terracotta tiled roofs too, past (old roofs) and present (new or re-roofing) roofs will probably have a universal tile ventilator model to fit your manufacturer and profile tile.
There is even a special 'unit' version for the popular Corrugated or Colorbond roofs. {vmproduct:sku=V001}
